What you are guarding
The description says light keeps it away, but one vulnerable entrance is all it needs. If it gets inside, the house goes dark.
Recorded house openings:
| Opening | What players do |
|---|---|
| Front door | Shut it the moment anyone comes back inside. |
| Side door | A working exit. Learn it on the first walk. |
| Sliding or glass door | Gets its own guard in team play. |
| Downstairs and upstairs windows | It opens them and has jumped through one. |
| Top window | Used as a drop. Opening it has also led to a kill. |
| Lower exit | A downstairs way out, distinct from the front door. |
Snowbound Lodge recordings name a front door and windows with blinds. Room names on that map are not established.
The scare-off
The recorded tutorial is: when you hear it at the door or the window, look right at it, shut that entrance, and turn on a floodlight. The cue is sound plus Opening active. Knocking can come first. Sound can point at the wrong wall, so check the side and then answer the opening you can see.
Leave floodlights on after a successful scare-off if the power is up. They are house fixtures. They die with the breaker. Flashlight cells do not feed them. Flashing a flashlight at a window is the other game's tip, not this scare-off.
The Locust has a recorded on-screen line that it does not breach lit areas. The game does not define that phrase. Do not assume a flashlight beam counts. The other creatures do not get that same on-screen sentence.
Doors and windows that lose nights
Never open a door while it is standing outside. Recorded groups who opened a door so a teammate could slip out got Breach active. Windows are the entry players actually lose: it jumps through, it opens them itself, and a window found open after a power restore already had it inside.
Do not open a window to peek. If it is pressing the ground floor, go upstairs and close those windows too.
Power cuts expose every entrance
Until the breaker is back, close what is open while someone else is on the box. One recorded breach came through the downstairs window while the group was fixing power.
If the night is against the Skinwalker, Not My Friend and You Let Him In add a second door rule: a copy can be let in, and opening the door for the Skinwalker is its own badge. The tell is not published.
Mistakes
- Opening a window just to look.
- Opening a door with it on the step.
- Trusting a shut door to stay shut.
- Ignoring the second floor.
- Leaving every player on the breaker during a cut.
- Spending the night on silence and never walking the loop.
When the screen says Breach active, that entrance is already lost. Switch to the breach page.
