Two different blackouts
The description says to restore the breaker when the power fails. The creature cuts it on purpose. House lights and floodlights drop together. No recording ties the cuts to a clock.
A second darkness is the breach line: if it gets inside, the house goes dark. Do not start a breaker run while it is still in the building. Lights Back On is explicit: personally repair the breaker after surviving an indoor hunt, then finish that night on Hard or above.
The flashlight does not run on house power. Stock batteries before the first cut.
The restore that works
- Confirm the house went dark without you touching a switch.
- Wait until it leaves the box. Players who ran at the fuses while it was still there died on the walk, including on Hard.
- Leave through a door you already know. The box is outside on the house and outside on Snowbound Lodge. No recording pins it to a landmark beyond that.
- Flip the switches in front of you. Stop when the screen says power is restored and the lights return. One teammate's trip covers the squad.
- Go straight back inside, shut the door, and close the window it opened while you were gone.
If the interaction will not start, break off. One player found the box ignored them with the creature nearby. Nothing in that run explains why.
An Overload message appeared in one Boiled One night and was never explained. Do not build a plan around it.
Fuses run out
Fuses are a consumable in recorded nights. A night can end on having no fuses left, after which floodlights stay down. Shut entrances by hand, hide, or stay out of the dark house until 6 AM. Do not keep running to an empty box.
Restoration does not ban the creature for the rest of the night. It can cut the power again. One player saw it vanish when the lights returned and then break in later.
Learn the outdoor walk at the start. Searching for the box after the lights are already dead is how the trip fails.
